I love the Packard Hawk. It is too bad the brand had to go the way of the dinosaur I would have loved to see how this “sporty” Packard would have developed during the horsepower wars in the 60’s.

Prefer the Studebaker Golden Hark b/c it does’t have that silly simpsons catfish grill, but otherwise a great design.

Studebaker Hawk with a catfish face - don’t care, still amusing, would rock.

Could be had with a Supercharger from the factory.

I am a brand snob. I prefer the Packard.

Besides the Golden has a big nose I think.

Yeah, the Packard Hawk is awesome. I just wish they’d have called it something less Studebakery and more in keeping with the Packard marque. Like ‘400’ or ‘Constellation’ or something like that.

There’s a piece of me that wonders what might have happened if Studebaker kept the Packard marque for ‘59 and gave it exclusive use of the LWB President chassis and hardtop Hawks, while Studebaker stuck with the Lark and trucks.

Since the Lark was literally just a cut-down President anyway, it wouldn’t have been THAT expensive to keep the Packard marque - the ONLY reason Studebaker itself survived 1954 - going.

The 1958 Packard Hawk came standard with a supercharger.

So did the 1957 Clipper Town Sedan and wagon. And the supercharged wagon was praised for its superior handling due to its great weight distribution. They also came with Packard’s early version of “Posi-traction” they called “Twin Traction.”

With all the innovations it really is a shame they had to go extinct
